The variety of muscles and muscle functions provide an opertunity to exercise the area from multiple angles, using a variety of inter and intra set overload techniques.
The three key glute functions are hip extension, hip abduction and lower body posture and stabilisation. When designing a glute specialisation program we focus on one function per day.
Making the ideal glute program span three separate days.
By choosing a series of the best bang for your buck hip extension movements like the deadlift, on the first day … single leg movements like the split squat on the second … and focus on abduction and stabilisation on day three we trigger faster growth.
This way we're providing ample stimulus for gluteus maximus and gluteus medius on day one and two, and we're rounding out the program with an emphasis on hitting gluteus minimus and the deeper stability muscles like piriformis, superior and inferior gemellus and obturator internus on the last day.
This approach provides optimal stability, strength and function, plus an extremely perky booty!
Because "damn, your booty is just to damn perky!" … said no one … ever!
Pro tip, muscles respond differently due to the unique mechanism of use. Therefore it's extremely important to choose the right loading variables on each day.
