New York Comic Con Eastern Championships of Cosplay, NYCC 2018 Best Cosplayers

NYCC Eastern Championships of Cosplay returned on Saturday, October 6, 2018 to the Big Apple as the largest and most prestigious costume contest on the East Coast. This is a part of ReedPOP’s 2018 Global Championships of Cosplay.

Thousands of NYCC Fans watched in person while many more Fans from around the world tuned in via the Official NYCC Livestream to cheer on their favorite cosplayers. Competitors battled to qualify for the final round of the 2018 C2E2 Crown Championships of Cosplay in Chicago, the final stop in the Global Championships of Cosplay.

The NYCC Eastern Championships of Cosplay is a celebration of all pop culture. It is a craftsmanship award show with a pre-judging session and a stage display. All entries represent a character or element from the pop culture realm.

New York Comic Con is the largest pop culture event on the East Coast.

The New York Comic Con is an annual New York City fan convention dedicated to comics, graphic novels, anime, manga, video games, cosplay, toys, movies, and television. It was first held in 2006.

Cosplay is a performance art in which participants called cosplayers wear costumes and fashion accessories to represent a specific character. Cosplayers often interact to create a subculture and a broader use of the term "cosplay" applies to any costumed role-playing in venues apart from the stage. Favorite sources include manga and anime, comic books and cartoons, video games, and live-action films and television series.

The rapid growth in the number of people cosplaying as a hobby since 1990 has made the phenomenon a significant aspect of popular culture in Japan and some other parts of Asia and in the Western world. Cosplay events are common features of fan conventions and there are also dedicated conventions and local and international competitions, as well as social networks, websites and other forms of media centered on cosplay activities.
